Colourless glaze on cobalt and copper pigment on white porcelain; with a very wide mouth, flat lip, and recessed flat, circular foot surrounded by a protruding convex, circular foot rim; painted in underglaze blue with a continuous design of a fisherman standing, with one arm outstretched, in a waterside landscape with a small country dwelling, beneath a shoulder band with two clouds and the sun, the underside painted in underglaze red with his partially covered fishing skiff.
Includes matching snuff dish of colourless glaze on cobalt pigment on white porcelain; a dish, set on a protruding, circular, convex footrim; painted in underglaze blue with a fisherman in a partially covered skiff on a lake or river with a foreground tree growing from a rocky outcrop, and distant hills on the far bank, the foot inscribed 玩玉 Wanyu (‘Precious jade’)
