Crystal, suffused with icy flaws, ink, and watercolours; with a flat lip and foot and a convex foot rim; painted with a continuous composition of two carp, fifteen fan-tailed goldfish, and two minnows, inscribed in regular script Longmen deyi 龍門得意 (‘Pride of Achievement at Dragon Gate’), followed by Jiyou qiuri xieyu jingshi Meng Zishou zuo 己酉秋日寫於京師孟子受作 (‘Made by Meng Zishou at the capital in the autumn of the jiyou year’), followed by one seal of the artist, Zishou 子受, in negative seal script.
